Book of Gods was released on 24 May 2018 by Big Time Gaming as their 243 betways 5 reels 3 rows ancient gods themed slot game. The RTP is set to 96.35% and uses some interesting features such as Symbol Cloning, Free Spins and Feature Drop.
The main characters or winning symbols, as the title suggests, are the four gods. Osiris god of the underworld, Ra god of the Sun, Bast goddess of the afterlife and Neith goddess of the Earth.
The wild and scatter symbol is the golden book which is also the enabler for free spins feature. Each spin a special Symbol Cloning is selected from 9, 10, J, Q, K and A. After any wins are paid the Cloning Symbol is copied to fill all positions on any reel where it occurs.
Sometimes winning on demand is the best way to. At least this had to be the motto for the Feature Drop, in this mode, the player can essentially buy, instead of using chance or luck. With every Feature Drop buy the player is given at least 3 scatter symbols thus granting 15 free spins.

Our Take On Book of Gods
Our team likes feature rich slot games, we love the gambling feature (which is not present in Book of Gods), free spins. However, the Feature Drop seems kind of excessive. In our eyes, the whole point of playing slots is getting those features and big wins. Having a button to just pay for them seems a bit much. It certainly speeds up the players work, and seems extremely fun at first.
After buying the free spins like 10 times, most of the time getting 15 to 20 free spins, at a 60-40 ratio, the game becomes dull. Comparing it to Book of Ra Deluxe, from which this game takes most inspiration from anyway, it loses its charm. It gives the same feeling that loot boxes give in videogames.
As the screenshots show, there is a warning after pressing the feature buy button. “The Gods can bestow vast riches but they are also mysterious and volatile. Press start to trigger Free Spins at the price displayed. Your current stake will apply to each free spin.” This does sound pretty good in theory but it makes the actual gameplay boring and insignificant. I mean no-one will spin the reels no more.
We hesitated to play Book of Gods for real money, because of the mentioned feature. If it’s making the game more dull and boring, it’s clear what effect it will have on real money slots.
In terms of graphics, audio and feeling the game does deliver. It does feel pretty good and dynamic every time the reels are spinning. The win symbols or icons have a pretyy good design.
It seems that too many features can hurt. The Book of Gods slot game had great potential until we started playing the Feature Drop. The game just pushes you into the guaranteed feature option by design. The is no way to disable this, so every time you miss the 3 scatter symbols you will think about using the drop button.
While it is very similar to Novomatic’s Book of Ra in terms of design and theme, Book of Gods is very different in terms of gameplay and features. This is not necessarily bad, different players different needs and concepts of fun. A fair score for Book of Gods would be 6/10 on a 1 to 10 scale.
